Margaret Regan, Roundups and Deportations of Immigrants; Sunsara Taylor, Trump and the War on Women

Trump, and the Beginning of Mass Deportations, with Margaret Regan

In the wake of rule changes for deportations issued by Trump, Margaret Regan wrote, "Under the new rules, 'deportable' criminal aliens are not just those who have been convicted of a crime. Now, undocumented people who have only been charged with a crime are priorities for deportation. Even worse, agents, acting as cop, judge and jury, could round up immigrants who the officers believe committed some undefined act that could warrant charges. This marks a breathtaking expansion of police powers and abandons the hard-and-fast American principle of innocent until proven guilty." We'll talk about these and other ominous changes.

Margaret Regan is a longtime journalist in Tucson, Arizona, and the author of Detained and Deported: Stories of Immigrant Families Under Fire.

The fascist Trump/Pence administration has already begun to carry out their threats against women's rights and women's lives: the global gag order, plans to defund Planned Parenthood, and other threats to women's health care.

We'll talk to Sunsara Taylor about this, and the resistance that's necessary. Sunsara Taylor is a writer for Revolution/revcom.us, and an initiator of Refuse Fascism. She is currently part of the Refuse Fascism Drive Out the Trump/Pence Regime National Tour.
