Ursula K. Le Guin is the author of The Left Hand of Darkness and Dispossessed.  She is the author of six volumes of poetry, 20 novels, over 100 short stories, four volumes of essays, eleven books for children, four volumes of translations.

She talks to Michael Slate about her novel Voices, set in a time and place of extreme oppression, where reading and critical thinking are illegal, punishable by death.

In this wide-ranging interview, they talk about her work, her transformation of science fiction, the impact of her novels, and the danger of a fascist theocracy in the US.
