Thousands of books and other materials are being banned from US prisons. Illinois prisons recently banned Blood in the Water: The Attica Prison Uprising of 1971 and Its Legacy, the Pulitzer Prize winning work by Heather Ann Thompson. (The Uptown People's Law Center has filed a lawsuit against the ban.) Betsy Ginsberg will join us to talk about the widespread practice of banning books from prisons, the importance of the case of Blood in the Water, and why it's so important to fight this censorship. Betsy Ginsberg is a Clinical Associate Professor of Law at Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law and the founder and director of the Civil Rights Clinic.
