The Danger of Complacency and Complicity: 10 Days of Resistance; The March for Science; How Germans Became Nazis

10 Days of Resistance
NO! In the Name of Humanity – We REFUSE to Accept a Fascist America!
DRIVE OUT THE TRUMP/PENCE REGIME!

Andy Zee, Spokesperson for Revolution Books, New York, and member of the Advisory Board of RefuseFascism.org, will talk about 10 Days of Resistance, beginning with the March for Science, April 22, through May 1 protests to Stop the Regime’s Demonization, Attacks and Deportations of Immigrants.

The Trump Regime is not self--destructing. It is moving quickly to hammer into place a fascist form of rule. In the coming weeks, thousands of people will be in the streets, and these protests must be supported and amplified. This is an important moment to bring forward a movement of determined resistance.

During these 10 days, "People must see the NO! everywhere and learn that there is an organization working for the time when millions act together, filling the streets of cities and towns day after day and night after night, declaring this whole regime illegitimate—Demanding, and not Stopping, Until the Trump/Pence Regime is Driven from Power. Millions must stand together with conviction and courage to resist and say NO! We REFUSE to Accept a Fascist America, not just for ourselves, but in the name of humanity."

March for Science DC

Rush Holt, CEO of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the world's largest general scientific society, and one of the partners in the March for Science, will talk about the importance of this event. The March for Science website says, "The March for Science is a celebration of science. . . . People who value science have remained silent for far too long in the face of policies that ignore scientific evidence and endanger both human life and the future of our world. Staying silent is a luxury that we can no longer afford.  We must stand together and support science."

Peter Fritzsche on the Holocaust

Holocaust Remembrance Day is April 24. This year, it coincided with Armenian Genocide Remembrance Day. We will speak with historian Peter Fritzsche, author of Life and Death in the Third ReichAn Iron Wind, and Germans Into Nazis

In his works, and Life and Death in the Third Reich particularly, Peter Fritzsche deciphers the puzzle of Nazism’s ideological grip. Its basic appeal lay in the Volksgemeinschaft—a “people’s community” that appealed to Germans to be part of a great project to redress the wrongs of the Versailles treaty, make the country strong and vital, and rid the body politic of unhealthy elements. The goal was to create a new national and racial self-consciousness among Germans. For Germany to live, others—especially Jews—had to die.
