"Jim: The James Foley Story"
We'll hear an interview with Director Brian Oakes, and Clare Gillis, one of the participants, of "Jim: The James Foley Story," a documentary that tells the story of the conflict journalist who covered wars and uprisings in the Middle East, including the conflicts in Syria and Libya. It shows his compulsion to bring the story of the tremendous suffering in those areas to the world, and of his capture, imprisonment and public execution by the Islamic State (ISIS or Daesh).
Brian Oakes is a documentary filmmaker who was a lifelong friend of Jim Foley. The film premiered at the Sundance Film Festival, and can be seen on HBO this month.
